On October 23, 2011, we honored distinguished Democrats at our annual Democrat of the Year Awards, with Rep. Lois Capps as the Democrat of the Year. Other recipients of the prestigious Democrat of the Year Award include San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom (2008), L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky (2009) and California Assembly Speaker John A. Perez (2010).
